TWO Bournemouth drag queens will be starring on TV talent show the X-Factor.

David Mitchell, as Dame Kitty and Robert Clothier, as Lady James, travelled to London to support a friend Jaqueline Hall, who also performs at Rubyz, in Bournemouth in her X-Factor audition.

The pair arrived at Arsenal football stadium in full drag.

Dame Kitty said: "It really was an abstract day. We were just there to support Jax but somehow we ended up being filmed."

The drag queens, both wearing red dresses, were persuaded to sing for some producers and eventually ended up singing in front of judges Simon Cowell, Sharon Osbourne, Dannii Minogue and Brian Friedman.

Dame Kitty said: "You should have seen the look on Simon Cowell's face when we walked in. He was obviously not expecting two six foot something drag queens."

They performed When I Fall In Love and during the song Dame Kitty climbed on the judges' table.

He said: "It is one of my favourites because you can get all sultry."

After the song the drag queens refused to be judged and flounced out of the room.

They were amazed to discover that producers wanted them to go through to boot camp and they are now waiting for a phone call to confirm this.

Dame Kitty said: "After we saw how the X-Factor works we thought we should hold a Drag Factor competition in Bournemouth to find some more drag queens to join the team at Rubyz.

"There must be lots of women who think that their husbands or boyfriends should have a go. It is not a gay thing it is really about being a clown, just one that happens to wear a posh frock.

"We are looking for personality. They don't have to be able to sing although if they can that is a bonus - as long as they are not better than me!"

Drag Factor will start in July and Dame Kitty and Lady James's audition will be shown on television in July or August.
