BOURNEMOUTH Balloon has been removed for “essential maintenance work” according to operator S&D Leisure.
The popular tourist attraction disappeared from the Lower Gardens last week, with signs explaining the move being put up in the nearby kiosk.
However, when contacted by the Daily Echo for more detail on the work, S&D Leisure director Stanley Reeves responded with “no comment”.
It is not clear what work is required or why it is taking place during the summer season.
Signs say the balloon will be returned to the gardens “in a few weeks”, and the Manchester-based company - which runs several events and attractions around the town - is currently advertising to find staff to operate it.
Vacancies for ‘Bournemouth Balloon flight crew’, ‘kiosk attendants’ and ‘flight attendants’ are being advertised in the same kiosk.
Bournemouth council issued a statement. A spokesman said: “The Bournemouth Balloon in the Lower Gardens is temporarily out of service, undergoing maintenance.”
