POLICE have rescued a swan from the side of a busy road in Christchurch.
PC Mel Rooney and her colleague were called to Barrack Road this morning to reports of a swan on the pavement at the junction of Elizabeth Avenue.
They covered the swan with a high-vis jacket before putting it in the back of a police car to take down to the river.
The officers were assisted by Dan Meeks from Wildlife Rescue.
