IN view of the recent landslip on the East Cliff does Cllr David Kelsey not believe it prudent to rescind the approved planning application submitted by the Quantum Group to develop the Ocean View, Cottonwood and Bay View Hotels site?
It is our opinion that the vibration caused by the demolition and excavation of the site needed to construct three larger buildings, incorporating the provision of an underground car park large enough to hold in excess of 200 vehicles, plus the additional use of heavy haulage equipment to remove the aggregate, could lead to further instability of the cliff top.
If the council is prepared to allow this development to proceed, then the responsibility will be its own.
The erosion of the cliffs currently caused by water is patently obvious when viewed from the promenade and the changing weather patterns are making the situations worse.
Both Scarborough and the Isle of Wight have experienced the same problems with properties disappearing over the cliff edge.
Please reconsider the planning approval for all concerned.
