A MUM and her son escaped a house fire unharmed, after being alerted by a working smoke alarm.
Dorset and Wiltshire Fire & Rescue Service attended the blaze, which took hold in an upstairs bedroom of the terrace house, around 4.15pm on Sunday.
A fire service spokesman said: “The fire was extinguished quickly and effectively using fire breathing apparatus, two hose reel jets and one main line.
“Thankfully there were no injuries. The occupants, a female adult and her son, left the building before the arrival of the fire service.
“The smoke detectors were working and raised the alarm to the occupants of the house, who evacuated.
Four fire engines, and the aerial ladder, attended the drama.
