DETAILS have been finalised for the 88th annual Bournemouth Music Competitions Festival.

Classes will take place at a number of venues across the town between May 28 and June 26, to be followed by the festival concert at the Pavilion Theatre on Saturday July 2.

The dance festival will take place at Bournemouth School for Girls in Castle Gate Close from May 28 until June 4 with vocals, speech and drama classes to be held at the Bournemouth Natural Science Society in Christchurch Road from June 16-22 and accordion classes at the same venue on June 11.

Choirs and bands will compete at the Pavilion and instrumental classes will take place at All Saints church in Castlemain Avenue, Southbourne.

Entries are now open with the closing date for dance entries on Monday March 4 and for other classes on April 15.

"We have made some changes to classes in both our Choirs and Speech and Drama sections and are very excited about our new association with the Bournemouth Symphony Orchestra which has resulted in new classes and prizes for our instrumentalists this year" said a festival spokesperson.

"We would love to see you either as a competitor or a member of the audience so put the dates in your diary now."

Competitors are urged to go to bmcf.info for more information, email bmthfestival@gmail.com or call organise Keven Knight on 01202 556023.
