A POOLE trading estate was cordoned off after a large chemical spill on Saturday.
Businesses at Holton Heath Trading Estate were advised to keep their windows and doors closed as police, firefighters and environmental experts dealt with the incident.
The chemical was later confirmed to a derivative of aromatic naphtha, a type of liquid solvent used in fuel additives, paints and coatings.
Emergency services were called at 10.10am on Saturday to the trading site on Holton Road.
A spokesperson for Dorset Police said: "A large quantity of liquid had spilled across a yard at an industrial unit.
"Officers attended and a small cordon has been put in place while Dorset Fire and Rescue examine the spillage."
The Environment Agency were also called with fire crews seen examining the spillage, which by Saturday afternoon had been contained.
A specialist contractor was sent to deal with the clear-up and the cordon was lifted at 5.15pm.
Paramedics were also called, although it is not believed anyone was injured.
There was no access through the estate, with Black Hill Road and Holton Road also closed.
