A MAN was punched in the face during a road rage attack on a petrol station forecourt.

The victim, who was driving a silver mini, was assaulted at the Esso garage on Wimborne Road.

His attacker, a man in his early 40s sporting a large, dark goatee beard, pulled open the victim's car door and pulled the keys out of the ignition before punching him three times.

Now police want to hear from anyone who witnessed the assault, especially a member of the public who took a photo of the attacker's black Audi car during the incident.

The drama was sparked by a verbal altercation between the two motorists while travelling on the Dorset Way, around 2.30pm, on Thursday, October 29.

The driver of the Audi followed the victim around the Fleetsbridge area, before the victim pulled onto the garage forecourt in a bid to get away.

Police constable Liam Sheridan, of Poole police, said: "I am appealing to anyone who witnessed the incident to please come forward and call 101.

"I am particularly keen to trace a member of the public who took a photo of the offending vehicle during the incident.

"All calls will be treated in the strictest of confidence."

The attacker was 6ft 2ins, bald, wearing gym clothes including a dark top and dark shorts with orange stripes.

No arrests have been made in connection with the attack.
