A POLICE investigation is underway after a number of pheasants were found dead at a Purbeck farm.
A total of eight birds were shot by catapult and left for dead at the farm in Steeple, near Wareham. It is believed a marble-type catapult was used.
A Dorset Police spokesperson said they were called to the incident at 3.38pm on Saturday, September 26. They added the incident is thought to have happened “sometime between 11am on Friday, September 25, and 3pm on Sunday, September 26.”
Further reports of poaching have been received in Bere Regis and Bloxworth.
