A MOTORIST has suffered 'serious' injuries after a car came off the A35 in West Dorset.
The injuries are not said to be life-threatening.
The accident occurred at Morcombelake earlier this afternoon near the Tizard’s Knapp junction.
Police were called to the scene shortly after 2pm this afternoon and ambulance and fire crews were also been called to the accident.
Motorists are being warned of delays while traffic clears the area.
A police spokesperson said the force had a call at 2.05pm to reports of a car going off the road at Morcombelake, Bridport.
The spokesperson added that the vehicle was down a bank off the road and ‘it is also reported that it was smoking’.
As a result of the accident, the road was closed in both directions between the Charmouth Bypass at the junction with Newlands Caravan Park and the Felicity’s Farm Shop in Morcombelake.
