This summer, from 25th July to 31st August, the picturesque village of Buckler’s Hard on the banks of the Beaulieu River comes alive, as Living History characters take on the roles of residents who lived and worked there during the 18th century.

Follow the costumed characters on tours of the village and discover what life was like in the village during its shipbuilding heyday. Explore the preserved Labourer’s and Shipwright’s cottages, while in the New Inn, listen to residents from the time gossiping about local matters.

In the Maritime Museum, learn about the ships that were built at Buckler’s Hard for Nelson’s navy. Take a stroll along the Woodland Walk and don’t miss the River Cruise, for a chance to see the wildlife along the banks of the Beaulieu River.
