A CAR fire caused “traffic chaos” for motorists on the A30 this afternoon.

Police and firefighters were called to the busy road at Stour Hill, Gillingham, at 2.25pm after a red Citroen C4 caught alight.

A police spokesman said the road was closed for around an hour and a half while firefighters extinguished the vehicle and oil was cleared from the road.

The road re-opened at around 4pm.

A spokesman from Dorset Fire and Rescue Service said the incident caused “traffic chaos” and the vehicle was destroyed by the blaze.
