A POOLE man had a lucky escape after he was thrown from his motorcycle combination when it was involved in a collision with a deer in the early hours of Sunday morning.
The 55-year-old, who was travelling in the motorbike with a sidecar, was involved in a crash with the animal shortly before 1am on Wareham Road just outside Lytchett Matravers.
An onlooker told the Echo the biker ended up “35ft away in a field” but got up after the accident and walked back to the road, complaining of chest pains. He added: “The deer jumped out of the hedge into the bike. He ended up about 35 foot away.”
“It was quite surreal,” he added.
The deer, a fully grown doe, was killed.
An ambulance and emergency response vehicle were dispatched to the scene, and the motorcyclist was taken to Poole Hospital. His injuries are not thought to be serious.
Dorset Police were called at 1.20am and road was cleared and the bike recovered.
