Firefighters attended a property fire in Swanage last night, with one man treated for smoke inhalation.
A call was made to Dorset Fire and Rescue Service just before 10.50pm leading to three fire engines from Wareham and Swanage Fire Stations heading to Institute Road.
On arrival, they found that a passerby had assisted the male occupant with leaving their flat and so fire-fighters quickly worked to tackle the flames using a hose reel and main line.
The man was treated for smoke inhalation at the scene. The fire is believed to have started when an electric heater fell over, resulting in severe fire damage to a five square metre area of flooring and smoke and heat damage to the rest of the flat.
