A road closure between Stony Lane Roundabout and the junction of Scotts Hill Lane in Christchurch will take effect from from 6.30pm this evening.
The closure is due to a sewerage leak, according to the Travel Dorset website. They advise motorists to use Purewell for access.
Wessex Water are currently repairing the leak.
Ian Drury, a Wessex Water spokesman, said: "We have closed the road to enable us to carry out emergency repairs following a burst sewer.
“Sewerage services for our customers are being maintained and repairs are ongoing.
"We apologise for any inconvenience caused by the road closure.”
He could not comment on how long the road will be closed for.
