A WOODLAND grotto has been created at Moors Valley Country Park to host free readings of the children’s classic story, The Gruffalo’s Child.
The park’s rangers have opened the winter wonderland upstairs in the Visitor Centre to complement the newly installed Gruffalo’s Child Trail, which leads families out into the forest for a series of outdoor activities.
Katie Davies, Moors Valley’s countryside interpretation ranger, said: “Everyone loves Julia Donaldson’s stories of the Gruffalo, and our specially designed trails are hugely popular with young families.
“We aim to inspire children to get outside and experience nature, and encouraging them to enjoy Julia’s books is a wonderful way to begin to get them interested in exploring the forest that surrounds the visitor centre here at Moors Valley.”
The Gruffalo’s Child readings are free of charge and take place at 10.15am every Monday and Wednesday until December 17. There is no need to book.
Other seasonal activities at Moors Valley include Christmas Tree sales, a daily gift market, Santa Specials on the Moors Valley Railway, Christmas breakfasts, lunches and dinners, children’s workshops and guided walks.
