STEVE Bendall hopes Bournemouth’s boxing fraternity will rediscover their love for live shows when he puts on a three-fight event next month.

The licensed manager puts forward a trio of up-and-coming professionals at the LeAF Academy, Duck Lane, on Friday December 19.

Jake Gosling tops the bill with a six-round bout against Telford-based professional Kieron Gray, with the further fights featuring Matt Legg – who beat Gray in October – and recent recruit Joe Hayes.

Bendall told the Daily Echo: “This time we wanted a smaller venue to get things started.

"Hopefully we can spark some interest in live professional boxing because all three lads have a good following and will bring plenty of support on the night.

“We hope to put on another show in February and I am discussing a joint venture with a London promoter for a bigger event in March.”

Poole-born Hayes, 31, last week claimed his second professional victory against Ali Wyatt at the Camden Centre, London.

Bendall added: “Joe joined us about three-and-a-half weeks ago having turned professional under his amateur coach. He has shown a lot of improvement and it was a good, solid display.”

Tickets prices range from £30-50 and can be purchased through Bendall or the boxers themselves.

Bendall is looking for event and stable sponsors. He can be contacted on 07855 942151 or via email: steve.bendall@live.co.uk
