BOSCOMBE residents and visitors are being invited to show off their artistic flair and create paintings and drawings of the town.

The entries, which will be included in the 2015 Boscombe Regeneration Partnership calendar, should match this year’s theme – ‘a celebration of Boscombe’ – but can be in any style of artwork.

The competition, which is open to amateur artists of all ages, runs until Sunday, November 23, and is in support of the partnership’s Backing Boscombe campaign to improve the area as a place to live, work and visit.

Councillor Jane Kelly, cabinet member for partnerships and regeneration, said: “This competition is a fantastic opportunity for local people of all ages to not only get their work showcased in the 2015 calendar, but also create some artwork that celebrates all that the area has to offer.

“Boscombe is home to a diverse and artistic community, and has so much to be inspired by, from its award winning gardens and beautiful architecture, to its historic pier and beach.

“We hope that the project will help to positively raise the profile of Boscombe and the exciting work that is taking place to improve the area.

“One project currently underway is to improve the layout of the precinct.

“By installing new benches and cycle racks, and planting fresh trees we hope to improve the look of the high street, as well as making the area more accessible.”

There are two categories – under 18s and over 18s – with a prize of £100 worth of high street vouchers awarded to each winner.

To enter, residents should email their piece in JPEG format to boscombe.regeneration@ bournemouth.gov.uk or send hard copies to Boscombe Regeneration, Unit 1, 8 Roumelia Lane, Boscombe, BH5 1EU.
