EMERGENCY gas works will take place in Christchurch this evening.
Southern Gas Networks have discovered a leak on their medium pressure gas main in Barrack Road and will need to dig up the road.
They will start by excavating in the parking area on the westbound side of the carriageway and working into the road until they locate the leak.
This could involve a complete road crossing which will run into Gardner Road.
There will be an emergency road closure at Gardner Road’s junction with Barrack Road from 7.30pm.
Work will continue overnight and will continue until the leak is located and repaired.
