A WOMAN who suffered life-changing injuries after her car crashed into a railway bridge near Wareham remains in a stable condition.
The crash happened on Grange Road at around 12.10pm on Saturday and led to the road being closed off by police for several hours.
A spokesman from Dorset Police confirmed yesterday that the woman, who is believed to be in her 50s and from the Poole area, remains in a stable condition and continues to receive hospital treatment.
The black Alfa Romeo Mito she was travelling in was heading towards Stoborough at the time of the incident, when it came into collision with the railway bridge.
Emergency services were called to the scene and the woman was airlifted to Southampton General Hospital with multiple injuries.
Initially her condition was thought to be life-threatening but police later gave an update to describe her injuries as ‘life-changing’.
All Swanage Railway services were suspended while a full assessment of the bridge could take place.
