THERE has been a row in Christchurch over its lack of a Britain in Bloom entry.

It was crowned best town in 2001 but, this year, the council says that a lack of resources and a change in the entry criteria led to the decision.

It sparked an argument at Tuesday’s council meeting over who should be making the decisions.

While Christchurch, which relies on tourism, must take pride in its appearance, seemingly petty squabbling over a competition entry doesn’t look good.

There are, after all, bigger problems in the world.
