AN 89-year-old Second World War veteran enjoyed a trip to London to attend a Buckingham Palace garden party.
Bob Barnett was chosen to be presented to the Queen, an honour he said will stay with him for the rest of his life.
“Her Majesty asked about my time in the war and said I had travelled far and done well – it was a wonderful day,” he said.
Bob, a Royal Navy veteran and current Vice Chairman of the Royal Naval Association at Ferndown, was accompanied by his wife, Martha.
The father-of-three, who also has five grandchildren, was born and brought up in Bournemouth and now lives in Christchurch.
