DOZENS of homes and businesses were left without power for several hours after a problem with the supply in Tuckton.
Scottish and Southern Electric said the supply was isolated at 2.10pm yesterday after a fault was discovered in a link box sited under the pavement.
Some businesses put up signs saying they would be closed until today.
A spokesman said 54 customers were without power and the company was hoping to have it restored by 11pm yesterday evening.
He added: “We would like to apologise for any inconvenience caused by this essential work.”
He said the work was essential because a faulty link box could cause more widespread power cuts.
