HAVING just read your Daily Echo (Wednesday, May 7) and the letters you have printed regarding readers’ opinions on the very controversial issue of cyclists being allowed to use the Square, there is no mention whatsoever on who is going to be liable if there is a bad accident involving a pedestrian and a cyclist.
Although there is going to be a 12-month trial, during this period would it not be prudent to look at the problem of liability, as the cyclist needs to be insured and the council need to make clear to the public where they stand, as far as the law is concerned, if an accident did occur.
