A SCHOOL in Poole has won an accolade at the Fairtrade Business Awards for the school dinners they provide to students and staff.
Poole Grammar School, based on Gravel Hill was given the Silver Award for Best Fairtrade Food Outlet at the special awards ceremony in Bristol earlier this month.
Chris Watson and Belinda Wright represented the school’s in-house catering team and were commended by Andy Baker, acting headteacher, at the school.
Following the awards presentation, Chris said that it was terrific news for both the team and the school.
He added: “I am really pleased with our commit-ment towards the Fairtrade and Food for Life work, and it is very satisfying that the efforts of our brilliant catering team and the many enthusiasts within the school have been recog-nised.”
The aim of the Fairtrade Business Awards is to increase sales of and support for Fairtrade amongst local businesses, by promoting businesses that support Fairtrade and encouraging others to do more.
