A Parkinson’s sufferer from Bournemouth will be partaking in a 109km cycle in South Africa.
Dennis Ross will be cycling in the Argus Cycle tour on the 9th of March. He will be raising money for Parkinson’s dance.
Parkinson’s dance is a weekly dance class held at Pavilion dance South West. It is in connection with Dance for Parkinson’s UK, a charity which works to provide trained instructors to help participants engage with the therapeutic dancing.
Dancing helps sufferers to improve flexibility. The class is followed by a social where participants and careers and talk and relax.
Parkinson’s affects one in 500 people. Most suffers are over the age of 50, but symptoms can begin at an early age.
The most common symptoms of Parkinson’s are tremors, rigidity and slow movement.
Unfortunately, there is no cure for Parkinson’s dieses but its symptoms can be controlled with drugs or surgery, or alternative therapies like that offered by Parkinson’s dance.
