A Skeptics In The Pub evening will be held at the Brunswick pub in Charminster to help spread a bit of healthy skepticism amongst the people of Bournemouth and get them questioning all aspects of life.

The event, happening on the 12th March, will include guest speaker Simon Singh, known for his books on maths and alternative medicine as well as his work on the BBC's Tomorrows World and Horizon programmes.

Simon will be discussing his new book, entitled 'The Simpsons and their Mathematical Secrets’, as well as his research into chiropractic treatment.

Andy Gault, Co-Founder of the Bournemouth Skeptics in the Pub (SitP) said: "The world would be a boring place if we all agreed with each other about everything, but a good skeptic will accept the argument with the best evidence to support it, even if it goes against what they previously thought to be correct."

Skeptics In The Pub is a worldwide organisation, with Bournemouth being the newest chapter. Andy described why he decided to create this branch: "We believe there is a lot of nonsense in the world which doesn't stand up to rational and scientific scrutiny, and we want to give people an opportunity to hear expert opinions on such subjects, as well as discussing some exciting topics grounded in hard science. All within the relaxed atmosphere of a nice pub."

People can expect "a lively Q&A session, as well as a good tipple. They may learn something, but more importantly they can expect to enjoy themselves," Andy added. The night will start at 7.30pm, tickets are available from their website. Tickets have nearly sold out.
