Tell 5 is taking over Winton Life centre this Thursday to host a free, full day, art exhibition to spread the word about the ongoing conflict experienced in Palestine.

The event will be run by Youth & Unity, a group that aims to raise awareness of cultural issues and promote peace. One of the team members, Juby Bryant, explained where the inspiration came from: “Rhian Jones, who is part of our team, had the idea after she met with her photographer friend, Lizzie Godfrey, who had been taking photo's for a book about Israel and Palestine. “

Palestinian journalist Yousef Al-Helou will be telling his story from the middle east. Talks will take place at 2pm and again at 5pm.

The day running from 11am-6pm will include displays of visual art, film, and photography from Lizzie Godfrey, and Mohammad Abbas in their individual style and direction.

Juby was enthusiastic about the commission of a piece of street art from a Graphics student at the Arts University Bournemouth, Scott Heleniak,“which should be a chilling representation of the dividing wall in Israel/Palestine.”

The exhibition also has a commissioned piece from a Devon based weaver Gail Bryant, who has created a tapestry from a stimulus concerning the conflict seen.

Another installation comes from group of 20 Spanish painters 'Two Sides' who have created paintings from a Palestinian orchestra stimulus.

Bournemouth based artist, Lizzi Hoar has also contributed some of her interpretive visual art pieces.

Throughout the day, films taken from Peace it Together, a Canadian film collective, will be shown to convey powerful messages from the creators.

Tell 5 is primarily an awareness campaign, and any money raised will be donated to Medical Aid for Palestinians (MAP).
