PRESUMABLY the experts who have come up with the idea of carpeting the conurbation with cycle lanes at the cost of several million pounds have done some calculations about how many people will actually use them.
Because judging by the anecdotal evidence, more cyclists seem to be using the pavements than the roads.
Hospital ward clerk Ann Woolston has become the latest victim of reckless riders, though fortunately her injuries could have been much worse.
She’s just the latest. It’s time the police and cycle-lane-promoting local authorities got to grips with these pavement idiots.
