PEOPLE from Dorset are being invited to take part in The Big Lunch, the UK’s biggest annual get-together for neighbours.
The 2014 initiative will see thousands of communities holding events and street parties on Sunday, June 1 as part of The Big Lunch, which is now in its sixth year and is funded by the Big Lottery Fund and partnered by Halifax, Asda and StreetClub by B&Q.
Rod Curtis, who has organised Big Lunches in Wareham, said: “We’ve had two fantastic Big Lunch events so far, starting with the Queen’s Dia-mond Jubilee in 2013 and the 60th anniversary of her coronation last year.
“The events were so successful that we are going to carry on the tradition and hold a Big Lunch this year with plans to combine it with our annual Wareham Music Festival.”
In 2013 more than 3.65 million people took part in Big Lunches across the UK, including thousands from Dorset.
Free packs for 2014 are now available from thebiglunch.com.
