To make the perfect outfit, footwear is key. It seems nowadays you’re judged more on your footwear than any other aspect of your clothing. It’s all about the Crep check! Walking around in shabby footwear is not okay and your student budgets simply will not fly as an excuse any more. I’m going to breakdown the essential footwear that guys and gals need to be looking crisp at all times, especially in uni.. People are watching.

Okay first on the list are Vans, they are the least expensive and most versatile footwear. Vans are the trusty everyday footwear that go with anything. They are comfortable, look good and can be any time, any place.

It’s all about the chunky shoes this season. These chunky boots are bang on trend, coined by Company Magazine as “The Trucker Sandal”, they come in an array of colours and styles. I bought this pair from Topshop recently and I absolutely love them, they are comfortable and just what you need to make your wardrobe a little more interesting. They even make your legs appear that bit longer and more slender.

For the men, it does no harm to sometimes look sharp. The best examples I can give you are Tinie Tempah and Scott Disick who are just fashion gurus! Please watch and learn. These guys know how to switch it up. Reading up on male fashion on fnomagazine.com; Bourges and Boat Shoes are the most versatile shoes for guys as they come in a variety of styles - you can get them in leather, suede ect. Even Primark sell these shoes they're not hard to find. They could be worn with some nice chinos or skinny jeans.

It seems to be raining more than ever these days and so a good pair of wellies is a must! I learnt the hard way - wearing your vans or converse in the rain is a definite no no as you don't want to trail puddles into lectures. My suggestion is to buy a good pair of wellies that will last you and make you look fabulous at the same time!

Nike Free Runs are really popular and you actually don’t need to be going to the gym to own a pair of these. This stylish gym trainer is worn for style more than anything else.

Converses are what make your footwear collection complete. You can go for any style but my favourite are the dainty Converses as they just look great and they don’t make your feet look abnormally long like some of the more classic styles seem to do.

Chelsea boots are a classic look, giving men and women a-like the clean-cut edge. There are plenty of styles for guys and for girls and they look great with skinny jeans.

New Balances are what I would call the fashionable “ugly trainer”. If your mum brought these home to you a couple of years ago I guarantee you wouldn’t be happy, but they're now somehow a fashion must have! These trainers really bring some 'London' style to an outfit, and they're good quality too.

With all these items, you now have a healthy collection of footwear which will make your outfits that bit more fashionable.
