CHRISTCHURCH Food and Wine Festival will launch its new website and dates for this year’s event with a pancake race in Church Street.

The event, taking place on Shrove Tuesday – March 4 – will revive the well known event, which was originally held in Christchurch for many years.

A team of chefs, local businesses and local celebrities will battle it out from 10am.

Registration takes places at Splinters from 9am with spectators able to sample pancakes from Splinters, Cheese and Alfies and James and White.

This charity event, in aid of the Christchurch Food Festival Education Trust and Autism Wessex, will attract a business entry fee of £20 per team of four people. Individual chefs will be entered for a modest fee of £5 per chef. A collection bucket to share between both charities will be circulated on the morning. Chefs are already participating from The Jetty, Christchurch Harbour Hotel, Kings Arms Hotel, Crooked Beam Restaurant, Captains Club Hotel, Lord Bute Hotel and Restaurant, Cheese and Alfies, Splinters and James and White.

Any teams and chefs who are interested in taking part should contact Tim Lloyd by email at for an entry form.
