MEMBERS of the Kinson community got together to decorate a Christmas tree on the village green as preparations continue for a new festive event.

A Kinson Village Christmas takes place on November 30 on the green and promises something for all the family.

Events will run throughout the day – the first of its kind in the area for some years.

A food and craft market will be held from 11am until 4pm after the Mayor opens the day and Father Christmas will be in his grotto from 11.30am.

There will also be a children’s fancy dress competition, which will be judged at 3.30pm, and carols will be sung around the tree at 4pm.

Pupils from Kinson Primary School and The Bourne Academy will be joining in.

The free event is being put together by the Kinson Business Forum, which was formed earlier this year in a bid to revitalise the area.

It is also being supported by a number of organisations including the Rotary Club of Bournemouth North, Bournemouth Borough Council and Bournemouth Chamber of Commerce, as well as the Daily Echo and Advertiser newspapers.

The day runs from 11am until 7pm.
