A PERSON was killed after being struck by a train on the railway line between Sway and New Milton on Saturday night.
South Central Ambulance Service confirmed that they attended the scene just after 6.30pm and recovered the body from the line.
It is not yet known whether the deceased was male or female and there are no details about their age at present, a spokesman said.
There were major delays on train services between Dorset and London and the Midlands and South West Trains and Cross Country services were suspended between Sway and Bournemouth.
A shuttle service ran between Brockenhurst and Southampton but the service is now back to normal.
Trains were also suspended between Brockenhurst and Lymington.
