A NURSERY in Poole is surrounded in confusion after writing to parents saying it was to close.

Three Bears Pre-School, off Stadium Way, now says it is not shutting down, and will simply be closed for one week over the half-term before re-opening on November 4.

However, several parents have said that they received letters from Borough of Poole, and from pre-school themselves, confirming the closure.

Stephanie Stockley, owner of the nursery, says that they are currently in negotiations with another company to take over Three Bears Pre-School She added: “We will not be closing, despite what people are saying. We will resume on Monday, November 4.

“We are currently in negotiations with the new owners, although it will not be Cuddles Day Nursery. There will be no change for parents and the staff are remaining.”

But in a twist, Borough of Poole has said that it is closing.

Jane Osburn, 0-5 senior manager at Borough of Poole, said: “Three Bears pre-school is a privately operated business which is unfortunately having to close. The council has written to all parents of children receiving free early education places at the pre-school to advise them of the situation.

“Our priority is helping parents to find alternative childcare and we would encourage them to contact the Family Information Services, on 01202 261999, to help them achieve this. We will also work to ensure there are sufficient childcare places in the area.”
