TAPPER Funeral Service’s Harbour View Woodland Burial Ground in Lytchett Minster has topped last year’s silver award at the South and South East in Bloom Awards, being awarded gold at this year’s competition.
The annual contest, which is sponsored by Southern Water, sees more than 1,000 cities, towns and villages across the region showcase their environmental responsibility, community participation and horticultural achievement.
Following a long process, Harbour View achieved the prestigious award in the large cemetery category.
The judges commented on the burial ground’s “outstanding design, horticultural management and its environmental conservation”, with particular reference made to Harbour View’s abundant wildlife.
Steven Tapper, joint managing director at Tapper Funeral Service, said: “We are absolutely thrilled that Harbour View Woodland Burial Ground has been awarded gold this year.
“This award is well deserved and I wish to offer my thanks and congratulations to our cemetery manager Rachel and her dedicated team of grounds men who made it possible.”
Harbour View is no ordinary burial ground or funeral facility – it occupies a position enjoying wildlife and nature along with views of Poole Harbour, the Purbeck Hills and Corfe Castle.
