The papers have been shortlisted eight times in all - six for the Daily Echo and two for the Dorset Echo - at the EDF Energy London and South of England Media Awards 2013.
The Daily Echo has been shortlisted three times in the Front Page of the Year category; Faith Eckersall has been shortlisted for both Feature Writer of the Year and Columnist of the Year and the Bournemouth-based title is also up for the top prize of Daily Newspaper of the Year.
Reporter Rachael Burnett at the Dorset Echo has been shortlisted for Newcomer of the Year and the paper's Fishing Tragedy appeal is also up for Community Campaign of the Year.
The winners will be announced at an awards ceremony in October.
