Bus idea comes along late

The town’s bus station was wrecked by a fire in 1976 – and only 37 years later, we could get a new one.

Bournemouth council intends to apply for permission to build a “bus hub” in Exeter Road, on the site of the original Hants and Dorset station.

It’s certainly true that the town could do with a new one, given how chaotic Gervis Road can be.

But whether this is a sensible use of up to £10million of council money, only time will tell – assuming Bus Station 2 is ever built.
