A SUCCESSFUL club for adults with learning disabilities has celebrated its first birthday with a party.
The Tuesday Club was set up by volunteers who noticed many people were left isolated after cuts to day centres and social activities.
The Southbourne-based club now has 45 members and is growing on a weekly basis.
Despite its rapid growth, volunteer Paula Smith stressed all are welcome and urged anyone interested to get in touch.
Paula, who provides respite care for people with disabilities, set up the club last year with Julie Jamrozy, a shared lives carer who provides residential accommodation.
Club members range in age from 18 to 70 and they pay just £5 each for the day to cover expenses.
The group meets from 10am until 2pm every Tuesday at the Trinity Methodist Church Hall in Southbourne Road.
Anyone interested in joining or helping the club can call Paula on 01202 382616 or email paula62 @live.co.uk
