A SAFETY advisor has been named as the new chief executive of the office of Dorset’s police and crime commissioner.
Chris Williams, former senior advisor for community safety for the Local Government Association, will succeed Martin Goscomb in the role.
In his previous role he led on improving community safety outcomes nationally and representing local government in lobbying Westminster.
The 38-year-old will work under police and crime commissioner Martyn Underhill.
He said: “I am very much looking for-ward to working with Martyn Under-hill, the team, the force and partner agencies in delivering the police and crime plan and to help make Dorset a safer place for those who live, work and visit the county.”
Mr Underhill said he was pleased to announce the appointment and thanked Mr Goscomb for his “loyal” service.
He said: “I welcome the appointment of Mr Williams who excelled in a rigorous selection process, which attracted 39 applicants.
“He has a wealth of experience at national level of local government and partnership working.
“Both of these areas are essential for my office and partners to make Dorset safer.”
The Dorset Police and Crime Panel considered and agreed the appointment and Mr Williams will start on June 24.
