FIREFIGHTERS attended a blaze at a flat in Old Christchurch Road in Bournemouth.

Two fire crews - 10 firefighters - from Westbourne and Springbourne were called to the fire in a first floor flat above Korean Grill at 7.30am.

On arrival, the four occupants of the flat were just leaving.

They had been alerted to the blaze, which started in a bedroom, by a smoke alarm fitted by Dorset Fire and Rescue Service.

The fire has been extinguished and all the occupants are safe.

The four occupants of the flat are Stefano Facco, 25, Antonio Ventura, 22, Daniele Bragoni, 20, and 28-year-old Davide Beltrame who all work at Bournemouth’s Gala Casino.

Stefano said he woke up to discover curtains in the bedroom he shares with Davide were on fire.

Watch manager Martyn Rudd of Dorset Fire and Rescue said the occupants were alerted by a smoke alarm which had recently been fitted by the service as part of its safety campaign.
