Rihanna released her long awaited River Island collection at the beginning of March this year.

The clothing line consists of neon yellow crop tops, black and white striped bralets and sexy thigh split dresses. Over a month later the River Island collection has received mixed reviews from the public, fans and professionals.

On the documentary Rihanna for River Island: behind the scenes, the chart topper explained “the theme for the collection was easy, laid back, chick, flirty, not very conservative, but I think everyone can wear this line.”

Her biggest twitter fan page Ultimate Rihanna revealed their thoughts on their idol’s collection, “Simple and sexy, wish I could buy all of the items!”

Cosmopolitan’s blogger of the year Em Sheldon revealed “I like the bright colours and it’s nice to see a collection on the high street that’s ready for the summer.”

Even over a month on the River Island website still has “Sold Out Online” plastered over certain items of clothing, in block capitals.

The £30.00 ‘Mid wash Rihanna denim dungaree crop top’ has been on the sold out list for a while, along with the ‘Beige and Black cut out shoe boots’ selling at £95.00.

River Island shop assistant Amy Taylor said: “The collection is doing really well and selling very well, although, personally I think it’s very expensive for what it is.”

For some fashionistas, the 90’s based collection is either seen as bang on trend, or a rip off version of the ‘Diamonds’ singer’s style. However, for fans it’s the chance to dress like Rihanna, but for a fraction of the price.
