ANY fatal road incident is shocking and tragic, but some seem to strike at the heart more than others.

The death of Ally Mullany on Sunday is one such case in point.

This is so in part because two of her children were with her at the time.

But also because as a dedicated teacher and head teacher, she touched so many lives, not just her pupils but parents too.

The tributes that have flowed in the past 48 hours are testament to the inspiration that she was, wherever she taught and led.

The handwritten notes left at her school in Parkstone are as eloquent as any spoken words. As one poignant letter says: “You told us we were all stars but you were the biggest star of all.”

Our thoughts go out to the family, friends and colleagues of a woman who will be missed by so many people, in so many ways for so many different reasons.
