MORE green-fingered Bournemouth residents have joined the borough’s green waste collection service.

A further 1,500 people who were on the waiting list have joined the scheme, bringing the total number of households on the garden waste collection scheme to almost 30,000.

Collections will take place fortnightly between April and November and green waste bins are being delivered to newly-registered residents.

The green waste will be recycled into compost and woodchip by Bourne-mouth’s waste partner Eco Sustain-able Solutions. A record 4,849 tonnes of garden waste was composted in 2012.

Registration for the 2013 service is now closed but residents can record their details by emailing greenwaste@ bournemouth.gov.uk or calling 01202 451199.

Green waste can be taken to a collection point every Sunday from 9am-1pm in Kings Park from April 14 to the end of November; Millhams Community Recycling Centre or Wilverley Road Household Recycling Centre in Christchurch.
