POLICE attended the HSBC Bank in Broadstone at around 10.40am this morning following reports of a robbery.

Two police cars and a police helicopter were spotted at the scene in Broadway. Armed police are also at a block on flats in Commercial Road, Poole, in connection with the armed robbery: click for live updates.

Police have released the following statement:

"Police are investigating a robbery that occurred at the HSBC bank on Lower Blandford Road in Broadstone at approximately 9.40am today, Thursday 4 April 2013.

"A man has entered the premises and left a short time later on foot where it’s then believed he got into a vehicle and drove off. Officers and the police helicopter are currently in attendance.

"Police would like to speak to anyone who may have witnessed the incident, seen anything suspicious, or saw the vehicle the offender made off in.
