TWO Highcliffe therapists will be feeling the heat when they take part in a charity firewalk challenge.

Friends Gill Taylor and Lis Horwich will be part of a group of fundraisers walking over 600-degree coals – six times the temperature of boiling water – in aid of BCHA next month.

The pair decided to take on the challenge after seeing an advert in the Echo and are now using the positive thinking methods they teach their clients to help psyche themselves up for the event.

Gill teaches yoga, laughter yoga, neuro linguistic programming and is a well-being coach, while Lis is a reflexologist and positive living coach. The pair also both teach the Emotional Freedom Technique, also known as “tapping”.

Lis said: “The charity has very much the same view as the way we work – they’re trying to help vulnerable people reach their potential. We wanted to show we could walk on our fear and have no fear.

“People who we are fundraising for have very traumatic lives and they’re in a fearful situation because they don’t know where they’re going to get food.”

Gill added: “It’s a challenge but, to me, it’s nothing compared to what some of these people are going through.”

There are still places available on the firewalk, which takes place on Thursday April 11 at 6pm at the Highcliff Marriott Hotel in Bournemouth. To find out more email or call 01202 410587.
