POLICE believe an attack in Bournemouth that resulted in terrible injuries was not random.

A 46-year-old man from the town had “corrosive liquid” thrown in his face in the incident, which took place between 6pm and 7pm on December 27 in Branksome Hill Road, Meyrick Park.

The victim is still in hospital after suffering serious injuries, and police have appealed for witnesses and anyone with information to come forward.

A police spokesperson said: “Officers investigating this case do not believe it was random.”

However, he said it was “speculation” to suggest the man’s attacker was known to him.

Det Insp Becky Riggs said the offender may also have received burn-type injuries in the incident, and officers are interested to hear about any sightings of a white Nissan people carrier in the area of the offence at the time.

Witnesses and anyone with information should call Dorset Police in confidence on 101, quoting incident number 27:379.
