NO further action is to be taken following a mass brawl at Parkstone railway station last year, British Transport Police have revealed.

Detectives launched an investigation after two men were knocked unconscious and suffered serious injuries when a fight broke out at the station in the early hours on July 21.

The incident, described as “nasty and unprovoked”, began when members of station staff and passengers broke up an argument between two couples on platform 2.

It was reported that as things began to calm down, a group of between five and 10 men got involved and a fight broke out, resulting in two of the men that had diffused the situation earlier being knocked unconscious.

One suffered a suspected fractured eye socket and the other received cuts and bruising to the face and had a tooth knocked out.

As part of the case, officers released CCTV images of 10 men they wanted to speak to in connection with the incident. Following an appeal in the Echo, nine were identified and eight were arrested – a 15-year-old, 17-year-old and three 18-year-olds from Poole, a 24-year-old man from Bournemouth and a 17-year-old from Corfe Mullen. Six had previously been released without charge.

And this week a spokesman for British Transport Police said no further action would be taken against the remaining two individuals.

“I can confirm that following an incident at Parkstone rail station on Saturday July 21, a 16-year-old boy from Poole and a 25-year-old man from Bournemouth were bailed pending further enquiries until Friday December 28.

“No further action will be taken against both men.”

He added that officers were not looking for anyone else in connection with the incident.
