THIS stunning image is part of a collection of photographs on show at Moors Valley Country Park for this year’s British Wildlife Photographer of the Year Awards.
Gannet Jacuzzi, taken by Dr Matt Doggett, of Southampton, scooped the top prize in the annual awards, and three of the other 12 category winning shots were also taken by local photographers.
Thousands of entries were received for the prestigious annual award which celebrates British wildlife and recognises the talent of wildlife photographers.
The exhibition brings together 90 of their images including winning and commended entries. The overall winning image was captured on a remote location off the north coast of Scotland, showing gannets diving underwater. Underwater photography also won the Habitat category for Southampton’s Alex Mustard with his shot of a grey seal in an underwater cave while, back on dry land, the Wild Woods category was taken by west Dorset’s Jeremy Walker’s photo of the New Forest.
Moors Valley’s countryside interpretation ranger Katie Davies said: “We are delighted to again be hosting this incredible exhibition.”
The exhibition is on show at Moors Valley from February 2 until March 17 2013.
