TWO prize-winning Bournemouth writers have joined forces to present a double bill with Artemis Actors Company, the local fringe theatre specialists.

BAFTA-winning screenwriter, John Foster, who lives in Bournemouth, has written his first stage play, Little Boy, which delves into the mind of the man who gave the all clear for the nuclear bombing of Hiroshima, Major Claude Eatherly, who was hailed a hero but couldn’t cope with the enormity of his actions and turned bank robber.

The other play, Soul Post, by Christine Aziz is based on interviews with Iraqi people she met while working as a journalist in Baghdad in 2003, shortly after the fall of Saddam Hussein.

The play concerns two young Iraqi musicians struggling to save their orchestra in the midst of carnage and chaos.

The two plays will be performed as a double bill, Living the Aftermath, at the Winchester Pub, Bournemouth on November 8, 11, 15 and 17.
